Google "Expeditions" A virtual field trip

THE EXPEDITIONS PIONEER PROGRAM

Expeditions teams will visit selected schools around the world, starting with the United States, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and Brazil. Each team will bring a complete Expeditions kit with everything the teachers need to take their students on journeys anywhere. The team will show teachers how Expeditions works and help set it up before class.

Imagine visiting the bottom of the sea or the surface of Mars in an afternoon. With Expeditions, teachers can take their classes on immersive virtual journeys to bring their lessons to life.

Expeditions, is a virtually built teaching tool using 'Google Cardboard' and a simple ASUS smartphone controlled by the teacher on tablet to lead the tour. The idea is to provide the opportunity for students to experience other parts of the world and learn from the virtual expeditions.

A school in New York City recently had the pleasure of using Google Expeditions with ancient history, normally there is minimal excitement but instead they were buzzing while having the opportunity to stand on top of the Chichen Itza examining all the details as if they were actually there.

To help teachers learn how to use Expeditions, a team from Google Expeditions will be visiting thousands of schools around the world and bringing the kit for teachers to use in their classes for the day. Up first: Australia, Brazil, New Zealand, the U.K. and the U.S., followed by more locations as the school year progresses. At each school, our team will show teachers how Expeditions works and help set it up before class
